first snow
We had our first snow yesterday. Only a few inches but enough to cause a normally 30 minute commute into nearly an hour and a half. But I guess that always happens the first few snows of the season. People have to get a little refresher before things run smoothly.
It was pretty, but I'll be glad when it is gone. I am really not a snow person. The chickens are really not that happy about it either. All the girls have moulted and regrown their feathers except for one. Violet started moulting over the weekend and this will be a cold few weeks for her. Poor chook.
Next week I get to go away for a few days to far northeastern PA and do stream characterization. Stream work in December is fun. Getting your hands wet when it is in the 30's isn't something I look forward to. I haven't started Christmas shopping. I bought Christmas cards but they are still sitting where I put them in the middle of November. I have this awful feeling that the next few weeks are going to go really, really fast.

Aren't first snows fun? No one here remembers from year to year how to drive either.
Join the club on getting ready for the holiday - my cards are stacked in the guest room - the decorations are almost done - FINALLY! - and I really should decide what gifts to buy - like, soon! Was I going to bake this year? LOL!
That much snow would have shut us down around here. We don't know how to drive in snow, so even a 1/2 inch is enough to wreck havoc! Sure is pretty though...
Hey--you will be up in my neck of the woods doing those stream characterizations! Burrrrrr! We have a week of snow and ice planned, be sure to drop by for a cupa somethin warm ;-)
Same here with the snow... I tend to laugh at the other drivers: "It's snow, people! Come on, it hasn't been THAT long since the last time you've seen this stuff!" :)
I went from being so far ahead (having already finished my shopping for Bri) to being so far behind (boxes of XMas cards and several other gifts to purchase.) *sigh*
