Stuck inside the office with the spring fever blues again

I hearby declare it spring. I am not waiting for the vernal equinox. It was 60 degrees at 7 am this morning. And now it is near 70. Huge swaths of whistling swans and Canada geese flew over last night and this morning. Crocus are up and I actually do have 3 aconite. Woohoo. They were apparently just a little late. Anyway, you heard it hear first. It's spring. No need to pine away any longer. Just get started. Get moving. Till, plant, throw open the windows and air out the place, beat some rugs, buy some pansies! It's here. We will be cooking out this evening and otherwise acting as if it summer, all the while acting positively giddy. Awesome.

Hunh. No spring here, I'm afraid. It snowed a few inches yesterday. Grump, grump.

The Penn State weather gurus regularly inveigh against the concept that solstices and equinoxes mark the "official" beginnings of the seasons. Seasonality is of course latitude- and geography-dependent. Here in central PA, they say, based on analyses of average numbers for this and that, the first day of the month in which the solstice or equinox occurs is probably the best candidate for official beginning of the season.

My first day of Spring Fever happened today. It was grand after having the "March Malaise"...You hit warmer temps than we did, but I won't complain--the snow is gone (will it return???--I hope not). Funny we were in tandem for M.M. & today S.F...PS to Liz, snowed a few inches yesterday? Yes, I would say "grump, grump" too.
