spring runs in on giant chicken feet

I was only gone for four days. But what a difference that makes in chickens. I left 6 little adorable balls of fuzz and came back to chicks that uhhhh....lets say have entered an awkward stage. They have these giant chicken feet now, and these sad little tails.

This little chicken looks very serious doesn't she? They love to be outside on warm days. Unfortunately that has only been twice and it is getting harder and harder to keep them in their box since they've had a taste of the great outdoors.

This is so not fair.

I came home to peaches blooming.

Apple trees bursting forth.

Furious nest building. See the nest at the top of the wreath, between the wreath and the door?

Tete a tetes and windflower. Pretty.

Daffodils in the lawn. It seemed like a good idea, but only because I'm not the one that has to mow around the foliage until the beginning of June.

Looks like most of the perennials made it through the winter. But that doesn't mean I won't make many, many trips to the garden center to buy more, more, and more.

Oh, they're still cute. Just less fuzzy. :)

In our old house I planted daffodills and crocus all throughout the front lawn. What a chore it was to mow around them for months. It's one of those things that I'm glad I tried, but won't be doing again! :)

crocus are okay, since they are usually done by the time you start to mow. Daffodils...not so much.

I can't get over how big the chicks grew already! Wow. They sure are cute. I like where the bird's nest is! Do you use that door often? The peaches flowering, the tete a tetes, windflower and daffodils make me giddy with spring delight. It all looks lovely!

yes, that is the main door, so for awhile we'll have to use alternate doors. Luckily we have other doors. The chickens got a new giant box today so they will be comfortable until it is time they can go outside. They are loving it. And their feet keep getting bigger.
